Santa Cupcakes

Yes, it's that time again, more school treats!  I came across these on pinterest and thought they were just adorable.  Seeing that I'm not the best baker, I thought they might be just simple enough for me to take on!  Here's what you need:

1 box cake mix
1 tub white frosting
1 bag mini marshmallows
red crystals
48 chocolate chips
24 red M&M's

Make your cupcakes as box suggests.
Frost with white frosting.
Cover about 1/4th of the cupcake with red crystals (I used the cover of the frosting to cover the other 3/4th of the cupcake)
Cut mini marshmallows in half. Cut vertically for hat and horizontally for beard.
After applying marshmallows, place M&M in the middle for nose and 2 chocolate chips on for eyes.

I think the kids will really enjoy them!

Twine Candy Canes

I recently happen to come across some similar candy canes on Learning, Creating, Living.  I absolutely loved them.  Shortly after, during an outing to a local thrift shop I came across some candy canes myself, so I thought I'd give them a try.  Hers were wrapped in burlap ribbon, I thought I'd do mine wrapped in twine.  After I was done I added a bow, some pine cones and a few christmas greens.  I've made so many holiday decorations this year, I truly have no idea where I can go with these.  Regardless, I love the way they turned out and I'll have to make some room some where!!

My Talented Little Worker's Gingerbread House

This weekend my kids decided to make a gingerbread house.  I was so proud of them, they worked so hard, and did such a wonderful job!!  I know they'll be thrilled to know that I posted it for everyone to see!

Advent Calendar Tins

I got this idea from Oriental Trading, while advertising their tin buckets!  I got lucky and found mine at Good Will.  As you can see, I started out by printing out my numbers on white paper.  I used paper punches to quickly punch out my numbers as well as a blue glitter backing.  Using tiny clothes pins, I attached the number to each of the buckets.   I filled the buckets with a few pieces of candy for each day!  As they empty each bucket, the kids have been enjoying the countdown to the big day!!

Peace Sign

I've been so jealous of all of the "Peace" signs that I've seen on floating around the web, I knew I had to have one for myself!  If you've been following my posts you probably recall the outhouse!  Again, I still had more wood left over from that tear down.  But, I'm so sorry to say this was the last of it.  Now I actually, have to start distressing the wood myself!  Anyway, for this project,  I resorted to my Cameo to print out my lettering.  I started out by using some aqua paint that we had on hand.  When I was done, the letters were to faint, they just weren't noticeable enough for me.  I took a slightly darker aqua marker and outlined the lettering.  It really made the letters pop.  I added a little ornament and now I have a "Peace" sign all for myself!

Liebster Award

I've been nominated!!

I'm so excited, I've just been nominated for the Liebster Award!  The Liebster Award is an award that means your blog has been discovered!  It's given to brand new blogs in the blogishere who have taken off and have under 200 followers!  I have been nominated by Fort Ledbetter.  Thank you so much for your nomination, it really means a lot to me!

After researching, the rules for the nomination are:
1. Answer 10 questions asked by the blogger which nominated you.
2. Nominate 10 other bloggers who have 200 followers or less.
3. Ask 10 questions for the nominee to answer.

So here come my answers from Fort Ledbetter!

1. What is your favorite power tool?
It's a close tie between my saw and my electric sander.  My saw allows me to cut out anything I desire, my options are endless!  As for my sander, I'm crazy about anything aged or distressed. On many projects, I use my sander to give it just that look!

2. Why did you start blogging?
I spend so much time crafting and decorating and its such a shame that my friends and family were the only ones to see all of my hard work.  I thought, even if only a few people look at my blog, hopefully I'd give them a few ideas and some help in creating some awesome projects!

3. What is your favorite Christmas movie?
I definitely have to go with Home Alone.  It's just not Christmas without watching Home Alone!

4. Who is one of your favorite bloggers?
I love so many different blogs, but, I always resort to Dear Lillie for so many decorating ideas.  I think she's amazing!

5. What is your favorite holiday?
It's a close match between Christmas and Thanksgiving, but, in all honesty I think I'd have to say Christmas.  All the work of shopping, wrapping, decorating, and cooking aside, the time with family and friends, and holiday cheer, it' a great time!

6. What is your favorite song?
This one tough, I'm not really much of a music person.  One song that I can't help but sing every time it comes on is Tiny Dancer by Elton John.

7. What is your favorite food?
This one's easy, anything mexican.  You name it, taco, enchiladas, nachos, I Love It!

8. Do you prefer paper crafts or wood crafts?
Wood, hands down!  I feel it's more permanent and a lot easier to give anything an aged or distressed look.

9. What is your dream job?
I already have it.  Staying home with my children is all I could ever ask for!

10. What season do you enjoy most?

Fall, it's just so beautiful, the changing trees, the scents, the colors, and the anticipation of the Christmas season.

My nominees are:
The Casual Craftlete
The rest of my nominees are on the way!

Questions for all of my nominees:
1.  Describe your style of decorating?
2.  Project are you most proud of?
3.  Who inspires you most?
4.  Favorite season?
5.  Favorite thing in your home?
6.  Favorite place you've ever been?
7.  Favorite store to shop at?
8.  Favorite fabric pattern?
9.  Your go to recipe?
10. Do you prefer paper or fabric projects?

Have fun and don't forget to take a look at the other nominees!
