Photo Tile Coasters

Photo Tile Coasters

Here's an easy and inexpensive gift that anybody would love!  Try Home Depot or Lowe's to find your tiles.  I think they came in a pack of nine tiles for not even $4!  For the project, I started by printing my chosen pictures onto tissue paper.  It did get caught in the printer a couple times, being it's so thin, so you might have to try more than once.  I cut the pictures out to match the size of the tiles. Put a very thin layer of Mod Podge onto the tile.  Make sure to use the Outdoor Mod Podge since there's a chance it will get wet.  After your thin layer, gently lay the picture onto the tile, you may need to straiten it out a little.  Let dry, and put on another layer of Mod Podge.  I did repeat with a third layer as well.

The book page tiles, I used the exact same method, but printed an image on each of them.

Citrus Bath Salt

It' the prefect season for anything citrus!  Including your bath.  I don't quite take a bath as often as I'd like, but after making this citrus bath salt,  hopefully can squeeze a couple in!  The scent alone makes me want to jump right in!  It's such a simple recipe, I think I'll be making another batch soon!
Citrus Bath Salt
You want to jump in the bath too, don't you?

I was recently looking to come up with a small gift for a friend and I came across a recipe for citrus bath salt.  I gave it a try and was thrilled with the result.  To gift,  I put the salt in a small mason jar.  I had some remaining salt when I was finished, so I thought I'd give it a try while my girls were in the bath.  Amazing!!  Smelled awesome and was so soft on the skin!  I'd highly recommend you give it a try.  If not for a gift,  just treat yourself!

Here's the recipe,

Mineral Salt
2-3 drops orange essential oil
2-3 drops lemon essential oil
1 Tbs. orange zest
1 Tbs. lemon zest

Malted Milk Pound Cake

I Love Pound Cake!! Add malted milk powder and it's even that much better.  Put it in a mason jar for a great hostess gift or desert for a party!!  Here's the recipe:

3 cups flour
3/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup softened butter
1/2 cup shortening
2 2/3 cup sugar
5 eggs
1 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup malted milk powder
whoppers candy

  1. Do not preheat the oven. Grease 10 inch tube pan and line bottom with wax paper or parchment paper.
  2. Sift together the flour, baking powder, malted milk powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the butter, shortening, and sugar on low speed for 10 minutes. Add the eggs one at a time, blending well after each addition. Alternately add the flour mixture and milk, mixing well. Add the vanilla extract.
  4. Pour batter into the prepared pan. Set the oven temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C. Bake for 1 hour and 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the middle of cake comes out clean. Allow cake to cool in the pan for 1 hour. Remove to a cake rack and cool for at least 3 hours.
  5. If your making mason jar cups, cut pound cake into inch cubes.  Fill mason jars up about 1/3 of the way with pound cake cubes.  Cut up whoppers candy, put on top of cake.  Put chocolate pudding on top of whoppers.  Top with another layer of pound cake.
  6. I hope you and or you guests love it!!

Mother's Day Pampering Kit

Who doesn't love to be pampered?  This makes a perfect Mother's Day gift.  I went ahead and added a gift certificate for a massage as well.  In the can I included a luffa, nail brush, a foot file, toe dividers, and nail polish.  I found the printable tag at Plum Adorable.  What mom wouldn't love this?  I know mine will!

And these are a few of my favorite things...

Now that the Christmas season is finally here, I thought I'd share some products that I absolutely love!  For a few of my girlfriend gift exchanges, we do a favorite things theme.  It's not always as easy as it would seem!  I have so many favorite things, how do I pick just one?  So I thought I'd share some of my ideas with you!

Pearl Nest Necklace

A while ago, I saw a necklace very similar in a magazine that I had received.  But as usual, it was expensive, and I instantly think "I can make that"!  I had some thin silver wire and also had a few small white beads.  I started by putting the white beads though the wire and winding the wire in a circular motion around the beads letting them show in the middle. When I felt it was full enough, I bent a small piece of the wire over another to secure it!  On ebay, I was able to find 100 plain silver chains for only $10.00.  Granted, I will probably never go through 100 chains, but it was a really good deal.  I've also made a lot of these for gifts for all of my new mommy friends!

Succulent Mug

Succulent plants are so popular right now, easy to take care of, and so darn cute!  I saw few mugs at Good Will for only $.50 and thought, how cute would those be with a little succulent plant?  I had made one for myself, and thought what an easy little thank you gift.  I simply added a small chalkboard and burlap flag to read "Thanks".  Only costing me a few dollars and the recipient just loved it!
